The American Express® AIR MILES® Credit Card, which is issued by AMEX Bank of Canada for Canadian citizens, is designed for those who frequently travel on Canadian Airlines. Cardholders receive one mile for every twenty dollars spent on gene ral purchases. Those who are already members of the AIR MILES® program are eligible to earn double miles at over 9,600 locations across Canada when they pay for items using the American Express® AIR MILES® Credit Card and show their AIR MILES® Collector Card. AIR MILES® can be exchanged for air travel on the following airlines: Air Canada, WestJet, CanJet, Canadian North, Calm Air, American Airlines, Lufthansa, Northwest Airlines and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. AIR MILES® may also be exchanged for hotel stays, car rentals, sports and entertainment events, gift cards and certificates, and more. This card has no annual fee, but the interest rate for purchases and balance transfers is above average for a reward card. However, there is a 3.99% introductory rate that applies to balance transfers for the first six months. In addition to the rewards program, the card offers many of the common benefits and services provided by American Express®, such as auto rental insurance, travel accident insurance, year-end financial statements, various purchase protection related services, and access to AMEX® InfoAssist service to securely record import ant numbers for credit cards, licenses, and other sensitive documents. Therefore, those who can afford to pay in full each month (to avoid finance charges), will use the card at participating retailers and merchants in conjunction with their current AIR MILES® program (to earn double points), and will be able to accumulate enough miles to redeem tickets or other travel related services will benefit most from what the American Express® AIR MILES® Credit Card has to offer.
