At the September 11 work session, Dekalb County Schools approved an item to order an audit of all high school athletic facilities. This approval comes after the Board approved CDH Partners as responsible for the audit and allowed $136,500.  The scope of the work for the Audit is to evaluate the district high schools and fields. 

The audit will cover facilities at the following high and middle schools: Arabia Mountain, Cedar Grove, Chamblee, Clarkston, Columbia, Dunwoody, Lakeside, Lithonia, Miller Grove, M.L. King, Jr., Redan, Stone Mountain, Southwest Dekalb, Stephenson, Ronald E. McNair, Tucker, Towers, and Druid Hills Middle School.

Chief Operating Officer, Erick Hoffsetter remarked, “What this architecture services really does is 1)evaluate all of our facilities but for really design development services. What this entails is meeting with lots of groups -in the short time I have been here-of people and hearing the conversations. We know what we want in the schools is exit have excellent facilities for our children. But in order to move from conversation to what is real we need to solicit the expertise of an architect so they can see what is real”

During the audit, CDH Partners will examine existing events for football, track football, batting cages/bullpen areas for baseball, field houses, ADA parking, fencing around the track perimeters, and tennis courts. 

During the conversation about outside athletic services board members, Dr.  A and Vickie Turner asked about the status of Redan High School’s athletic fields after funds had been allocated during previous administrations but no work has been done. 

“It does not need to be evaluated.  The work needs to be done. As the Nike sayings says we need to just do it. That’s all we need” Dr. Joyce Morley said, “The contract was already approved. It’s ridiculous it has not been done. We have students over there who families and parents  and community care about them too.” 

CDH Partners will require one week per campus to complete the audit.
