Rockdale County Public Schools were the first district in Georgia to offer free COVID-19 tests to all employees, students and their parents or guardians in the district, and they are continuing to do so throughout the summer.
The testing is in partnership with Kids’-Doc-On-Wheels, Inc., a nonprofit that seeks to increase access to medical pediatric care in school communities, according to their . By providing free tests to students and employees, the district seeks to mitigate the risks COVID-19 presents to the community, according to RCPS’ .
The district held a vaccination clinic Wednesday as part of their COVID-19 mitigation efforts. The clinic included the COVID-19 vaccine, as well as the Tdap and meningitis vaccines — which are required for incoming 11th and seventh graders according to Georgia state law.
All summer testing will take place from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The dates and locations are as follows: June 28 at C.J. Hicks Elementary School, July 19 and July 21 at Salem High School, July 26 and July 28 at Heritage High School, and Aug. 2 and Aug. 3 at Rockdale County High School.
Those getting tested should pre-register at . Walk-ups and drive-ups are welcome, according to the website. Testing will take place in a drive-thru format.
